This study examines the permissibility of invoking salutations upon the Ahl al-Bayt using phrases such as ʿalayhim al-salām and addresses the principal objections raised against this practice. Drawing upon a broad range of classical sources, it offers an unprecedented degree of detail and depth on a subject that has received little independent treatment.
